Sick Visits

Parents who raise holistic children- those free of unnecessary medications, injections, and those eating a diet that aligns with their health- stay healthier longer.  “The healthiest children in my practice are those who are free of unnecessary medications and injections.  With that said, it is these families who panic THE MOST when their child gets sick simply because it is so uncommon that they have little experience with fever, rash, cough, sore throats and runny noses, and any other discomfort that comes with illness.” – Jennifer Zethner

Common  acute childhood illnesses:

  • asthma, allergies, ASD, ADHD, eczema, constipation, diarrhea, speech delay, diabetes, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, obesity
  • Upper respiratory illnesses including cough, nasal congestion, bronchitis, sore throat, eye discharge, and fluid in the middle ear
  • Digestive/urological complaints including vomiting/diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, and urinary tract infections;
  • Skin infections/rashes and general febrile illnesses

A holistic perspective supports the body while it is purging itself of toxins via mucous, discharge, fever, rash, emesis, bowels, and urine. The purpose is not to halt the symptoms with conventional or even natural remedies. The purpose is to ALLOW for some discomfort while supporting the body.

Optimal support of the body is done through diet, fluids, homeopathy, vitamins, herbal remedies, and most importantly much reassurance to the caregivers that their child has an innate ability to heal with little intervention. Prescription medications along with appropriate referrals to specialists are utilized as necessary.

During a visit for concern regarding a chronic condition the symptoms are evaluated and a thorough history, including birth history, is obtained. The goal is to get to the root cause of the symptom. IT IS NOT the goal of the provider to overload a family with supplements/therapies in an effort to relieve symptoms. Much of the necessary work to relieve chronic symptoms involves diet, environment, parenting, PATIENCE, and lastly, natural supplements to further support the body.

“There is no ‘magic pill’ even in a natural form to cure a child’s chronic condition. Curing a chronic condition can take time, patience, faith as well as a shift in one’s views of conventional medicine whose only goal is to suppress symptoms.” – Jennifer Zethner
